West of England Apprenticeship Service (WEAS)

Are you looking to recruit new talent and skills into your business? Or perhaps you want to offer development opportunities to your team and upskill the next leaders and managers in your team? With thousands of apprenticeships now available at different levels and across sectors, employers are increasingly recognising the wide benefits that apprenticeships can bring to their business.

The West of England Apprenticeship Service can help you navigate the apprenticeship system and understand how apprenticeships fits into your business objectives. Our team offers free, independent and impartial advice, resources and practical apprenticeship support for small to medium sized businesses, across the West of England. We aim to inspire, support and educate businesses like yours to maximise their potential through apprenticeships.

The service is led by the Western Training Provider Network and is free to businesses, thanks to funding and support from the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and the European Social Fund (ESF).

How can WEAS help my business?

We can help you to understand how apprenticeships can support your team with recruitment, retention, upskilling and succession planning objectives. Our team:

  • Provide a free apprenticeship diagnostic and solution service. Through a series of consultation calls we take time to get to know your business and understand your current and future skills needs. We will present strategic recommendations and apprenticeship solutions to you in a bespoke Apprenticeship Development Plan which you can share with your team.

  • Apprenticeships at intermediate, advanced, higher and degree levels. We will guide you through the apprenticeship system, ensuring you have up to date information on the training and development opportunities that are available.

  • Assist you with queries and guide you through the process. You will be matched with a member of our team who will be here to answer any questions you have and support you through each stage.

  • Tools, training and resources for your team. We will work with your team to make sure that we set you and the apprentice up for success; whether it's help with inducting someone remotely, or training up managers who may be mentoring apprentices.

  • Facilitated handover to a training partner. Through our Network we have strong links with local training providers who deliver apprenticeships in the region. We will support you to choose the right training partner and facilitate a handover.

  • Best practice and networking. You will have access to training we run for SMEs and opportunities for peer networking.

Our team is here to help, depending on your needs. Get in touch to discuss how we may be able to help.
