Share to Support Celebratory Event – 10th May 2023
What a fantastic night celebrating the success of the Share to Support scheme at Engine Shed! We gathered to celebrate our generous levy gifters who have pledged their unspent apprenticeship levy to fund apprenticeship training for SMEs in the West of England 👏
Thank you to JOIN US Jobs at the University of Bristol and Judith Squires who shed light on the civic aspect of why they choose to share University of Bristol's unspent levy and emphasised how simple, yet impactful it is to make a pledge. We also had the West of England Metro Mayor, Dan Norris discussing the regional impact of the scheme and awarding gifts as a thank you to our gifters for their invaluable support and partnership.
We had the chance to hear real-life stories straight from the apprentices and SMEs who have directly benefited from the scheme, including Rosa Domingos from BPM Contracting Services Ltd. sharing her apprenticeship journey, after deciding on a career change later in life. A particular highlight was hearing an inspiring story from Jo Green, an apprentice at BDP - Bristol Drugs Project who overcame significant challenges, including a history of substance abuse and no prior work experience to embarking on an apprenticeship. With the support of the Share to Support scheme and Southern Co-op's levy gift, Jo has successfully completed her apprenticeship and now holds a permanent position at BDP, a testament to the life-changing opportunities apprenticeships can provide and how gifted levy supports SMEs to open these doors of opportunity to the community 🚀
We also had some exciting announcements during the event, including re-pledges and continued support following successful pilot programs. Watch this space for more details soon! 👀
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended last night. Together we can continue making a difference by transforming unspent levy into local opportunity! 🌱
